"Yoga is about releasing anything that prevents us from living happy, healthy lives. It helps us become aware of where we are blocked in body, mind and spirit and can begin to clear those stuck places. As the blockages are cleared, our energy is freed and our connection to our true nature is revealed.
Through yoga, which means union, we can live more harmoniously with ourselves and those around us. Try taking some deep breaths now and see how you feel." – Beth Rieke
“Tai Chi”
Tai Chi is an ancient system of movement and meditation, which aims to enhance our health, develop clarity of thinking and create inner calm. At Gurnee Counseling Center, our classes are fun and from the first class, give students practices they can use in their daily life. Although we teach form, our emphasis is on learning about Chi (“vital energy”) and enjoying the slow, graceful, flowing Tai Chi movements.
Our Tai Chi instructor is Phil Kirschbaum who was first introduced to Tai Chi in 1994 at the Harvard Medical School’s Mind-Body Institute. His classes are tailored to be an ideal complement to the therapeutic work being done at Gurnee Counseling Center to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Call Jennifer at 847-336-5321 extension 150 to register for the class. |
