Beginning Anew : Breathing New Life into Your Relationships.
Beginning Anew is a process for resolving conflicts and improving communication in relationships. Our approach combines elements of ancient Buddhist wisdom with cutting edge behavioral research on successful relationships. We have used this model successfully with couples, families, small businesses and other organizations. This format is simple and it really works.

Discovery: An 8-week group for Middle School boys.
Group members will participate in fun therapeutic activities and discussions that promote self-confidence, assertiveness, teamwork, problem solving, decision-making, self discovery, anger management and peer relationships. Call Debbie Ellis at ext. 148 for more information.
A Group for High School Girls
"The Best Years of Your Life...Yeah, Right!"
Just for high school aged girls, this group will focus on relationships, decision making, life transitions and coping skills. Participants will be encouraged to work on their communication skills - how to listen and be heard in relationships with parents, teachers and friends. Introduction to Meditation
There has been a great deal of press lately about the health benefits of practicing meditation. Get acquainted with this powerful yet simple method of slowing down, waking up, and enjoying life. Instructor Tobias Kaemmerer will teach you skills you can use right away to calm your mind, increase your focus and find peace in your daily life.
Tobias Kaemmerer is a professional musician and a seasoned meditator. Born into a Buddhist family, he began his journey in meditation practice at age 8 He has a wealth of experience in working with individuals seeking to incorporate the benefits of meditation into their lives. Hatha Yoga
Come join us in a journey of the body and mind. Yoga can give you boundless energy, increase your vitality and relax your restless mind. Classes are held Thursdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 - 9:30 AM. Call Arlene at 847-336-5321 extension 149 for more information.
Instructors Suzanne Norman and Adam Braun have practiced yoga for over a decade. Their style focuses on combining breath with slow fluid movements to increase flexibility and vitality.

“Tai Chi”
Tai Chi is an ancient system of movement and meditation, which aims to enhance our health, develop clarity of thinking and create inner calm. At Gurnee Counseling Center, our classes are fun and from the first class, give students practices they can use in their daily life. Although we teach form, our emphasis is on learning about Chi (“vital energy”) and enjoying the slow, graceful, flowing Tai Chi movements.
Our Tai Chi instructor is Phil Kirschbaum who was first introduced to Tai Chi in 1994 at the Harvard Medical School’s Mind-Body Institute. His classes are tailored to be an ideal complement to the therapeutic work being done at Gurnee Counseling Center to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.
