Sarah Nordman, LPC
Sarah welcomes clients who are struggling with depression, any struggles in school, and who are seeking an empathetic Licensed Professional Counselor.
I consider therapy ‘an art’ (as well as a science) through the use of Person-centered therapy, CBT and Solution Focused therapy. I also incorporate creativity, when it makes sense in conversation. I am honored to embark on life’s journey with you. As a Licensed Counselor for over 6 years and a National Certified Counselor, I have helped and witnessed great success within clients who have struggled and conquered low self-esteem, severe eating disorders (including anorexia and bulimia) and disordered eating habits, life transitions, some relationship problems and am also skilled at healing trauma, of various sorts. I emphasize self-care but also taking the steps in every area of life to grow stronger. I like to view life in a Holistic lens (social, emotional, physical, mental, spiritual).
I greatly enjoy reading and have many hobbies outside of work including cooking many cuisines (Latin, Peruvian mainly). I personally have traveled already quite a lot (with the great love of my life) and have found my greatest happiness sitting with my wonderful clients who I prioritize. I am especially trained and experienced to work with teens and young adults ages: 13-21 years old.
My clients will see that I am culturally aware, I have knowledge on many topics and am also here to learn about you! Professionally, I have the experience working with healing from any type of emotional hurt or pain. I try to cultivate a safe place where my clients can freely be, and look forward to coming to. Life can get hard, academic pressure does happen a lot for many; -and life does not easily just happen, without a lot of intense hard work and sacrifice.
I want to inspire grace within my clients, for themselves and learn to become even more ‘alive’/vibrant and streamline any healing. I come from a strong family of people in the helping professions. I also wanted to note I am the oldest daughter in a big family. I love to sing, (just personally), and think music honestly can be the greatest tool in healing.
I have two masters. Master of Arts in Psychology from Concordia University Chicago and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from CACREP accredited University-Concordia University Chicago. I also have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I have volunteered in the past and worked throughout my graduate school. When I am not working, I am running/jogging, cooking, working on research or design projects and trying to always understand the current world news. I am truly motivated to learn more about other people, because people are the most fascinating! Our resilience, -the human spirit to survive-is the strongest force on earth! -And the most beautiful wonder we can treasure. I hope to be that trusted Counselor for you, if you think is it a good fit!
